One part of the boat that is underappreciated for its functional significance is the hull. There are three main types: Deep V-hulls, also called mono hulls; catamarans; and hydroplanes. The Deep V hull is used for real-life recreational powerboats and is very stable. Its stability makes this also be the best type of hull for a beginner’s remote control boat. Catamarans are faster but less stable than V-hulls and hydroplanes are the fastest but least stable among the three hull types. Hydroplanes have also been called tunnel hulls.
