Day 12: Stop Procrastinating and Take Action!

March 15th, 2010 | by admin |

Today, continuing with my “26 Weeks to Freedom” project to create an online business, I actually did one of the things that Chris Farrell suggests in his video course on how to attract Internet traffic: I wrote an article and submitted it to EzineArticles.com! After submitting an article, it has to be reviewed (by a real human being, I think) before they actually publish it, so it isn’t online yet. But I was pleased that it didn’t take very long to write, and it turned out pretty good (I hope they agree).

The article is about the subject of procrastination (certainly one of my areas of expertise) and how to move beyond that by taking action. And there was a bit of irony in that: I was procrastinating on writing the article—figuring I would do it later today or tomorrow, of course—and finally decided to do it only when the Internet connection I was using was down for a while! Since I couldn’t continue doing the “more important” stuff I was attending to online, I decided to just “bite the bullet,” open a blank Notepad document, and start writing! It only took about 45 minutes, and then when the Internet connection came back to life, I simply went to the EzineArticles website and copied and pasted what I had written. Done!

Actually, that was not the first article I’ve done for that website. A few months ago I wrote something about learning how to speak French (which I’ve valiantly been trying to do for three years) and how valuable that skill can be when traveling in France (or, in the whimsical example I used in that article, mingling with the rich and famous in Monte Carlo!) At the same time I did that article, I wrote variations on it which were published on Squidoo.com and on HubPages.com. Those are two other sites that can also be valuable for drawing traffic to your own website by placing articles and links there. When I wrote the “French” articles I didn’t really have a website I was promoting that related to that subject, but in the case of today’s article, I most certainly do have a website I would like those readers–and you–to visit!

If you’re curious about how I’m doing on this 26 week “accountability”
project–including the full, unedited blog postings for each day as I go along (with videos, photos, comments, and other links)–please visit my 26 Weeks to Freedom website. I’ll look forward to seeing you there!
