A cool-headed pilot maneuvered his crippled jetliner over New York City and ditched it in the frigid Hudson River on Thursday, and all 155 on board were pulled to safety as the plane slowly sank. It was, the governor said, “a miracle on the Hudson.”

One victim suffered two broken legs, a paramedic said, but there were no other reports of serious injuries.

US Airways Flight 1549, an Airbus A320 bound for Charlotte, N.C., struck a flock of birds just after takeoff minutes earlier at LaGuardia Airport, apparently disabling the engines.

If there was a God …
If there was a God then 1) we’d be able to prove there was a God, whereas at the moment God is no more real than the Easter Bunny, and 2) the plane would never have struck those birds.

    Anyway, that’s my …
Anyway, that’s my experience & God has helped me many times in my life. Miracle on the Hudson it will be forever called, and personally the skill of the pilot, the happy ending, make it a miracle to me.

    It’s really silly …
It’s really silly that people are making comments that God couldn’t have been involved. First of all how could there be proof for such a ridiculous statement. God often helps people do their best, helping them to have a level head in crisis. Sully was the first person to say he was only doing his job. Certainly his training kicked in and he was definitely the best person for the job. Another thing God can do is make sure the right person is in the right place at the right time.

    I wouldn’t call it …
I wouldn’t call it a ‘Miracle on the Hudson’, i’d call it a skillful job by a good pilot. God played no role in this - the passengers lives where in Chesley’s hands. He was god, and he came through.
